Reset your Chrome bookmarks without losing the good stuff
Export first, reorganize in small batches, and test the return trip. A careful way to make a crowded Chrome collection usable.

Inspect the portable directory of links before you depend on it.
HTML bookmark exports are useful for inspecting a collection and preparing a browser migration. They are not a substitute for downloaded articles. Keep that distinction clear when someone calls a file a backup, and define which titles, folders, addresses, or annotations you need to preserve.
Use an untouched original and a working copy. Check the source profile, sample several folders, and test a small import before a full transfer. Review private addresses before sharing the file, and approach unfamiliar HTML cautiously. The two guides below cover the browser-side export process and a closer inspection of the resulting file.
